Wednesday Weather Conditions and Friday Free Sparring

Good morning all,
You have probably seen the official announcement from Chancellor Jones regarding class cancellation for Wednesday, January 30th due to extreme temperatures.
First Class for New Students Moved to Saturday 2/2/19
Our advertised first class for new students has been moved from this Wednesday, January 30th at 6 pm to Saturday, February 2nd at 12 pm.
Note: the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) facility will be open tomorrow, and I plan to lead Taekwondo class at 6 pm. However, if traveling to the ARC requires you to be outdoors for a prolonged period I recommend staying bundled up indoors. Whenever we have one of these types of events, I want to make sure that everyone is accounted for and safe.
Friday Free Sparring Practice at 7 PM
Some students indicated interest in extra free sparring practice with gear prior to the spring tournaments and general improvement. Based on the facebook poll, there will be an hour-long freesparring class taking place in the ARC Combat Room this Friday, February 1st at 7 PM. All are welcome to attend and protective gear (helmet, shin/forearm pads, chest protector) will be supplied. Please bring a mouthguard if you own one. Note: we may relocate to a nearby multi-purpose room if the Combat Room is crowded and or reserved.

Stay safe and warm.

Spring 2019 Schedule & First Class for New Students

Our Spring 2019 TKD Training Schedule is

  • Mondays and Wednesdays 6 PM in the Combat Room
  • Saturdays 12 PM in the Combat Room

Same as last semester, the official space reservation begins the second week of classes. We will start training on Saturday, January 12th and share space with others if necessary.

NO TKD Class on Monday, January 21st
There will not be a schedule TKD training session on Monday, January 21st. It is an official University Holiday (designated Martin Luther King Jr. Day). Feel free to give back to the campus and community and be of service. More information at go.illinois.edu/mlkday

First Class for New Student is Wednesday, January 30th at 6 PM
We need as many returning students as possible at this class as there are often multiple opportunities to help provide guidance to an influx of beginners. Remember to share and invite your friends to the public Facebook event:
