Congratulations Newest White Belts & Save the Date

Help me congratulate our newest white belts, Riena, Kane, and Andrew!

Save the Dates Saturday, Nov 13th for White to Yellow Belt Testing and Saturday, Dec 4th for Higher Belt Testing

There will be two color belt testing opportunities this fall term. White to yellow rank testing on Saturday, November 13th prior to Fall Break and higher ranks after Fall Break on Saturday, December 4th
Please review the techniques for each belt rank that will be evaluated during those tests on the club website: http://publish.illinois.edu/tkd-illinois/belt-ranks/.
Later this fall those that plan to participate will complete an online form so that the appropriate amount of boards and testing supplies can be ordered. On those dates, the testing opportunities will take the place of the scheduled TKD class. All are welcome and encouraged to attend both dates in uniform to help out the test by holding targets, free-sparring, taking pictures, and encouraging your fellow club members.

Congratulations & White Belt Testing
 

Plato once said “the beginning is the most important part of the work” take time to reflect & think about the significance of foundations and beginnings. Help me again congratulate our newest white belt Mrinal Gautam! 

 

Mrinal - New White Belt​
This is a reminder that the last 10 minutes of our remaining September classes will be reserved for any new student that wished to take a white belt test. The white belt test is a brief physical test followed by questions. If you are a new student and feel you can comfortable demonstrate the first form Chun Gi and know the aims to achieve, school rules, basic school language, and Korean exercise counting then you are ready to take the white belt test. After new students pass the white belt test they have the opportunity to purchase a uniform for $18.
 
If you have previous Taekwondo experience but do not have your uniform with you on campus, please speak with the primary instructor at the end of class so that the appropriate uniform can be ordered. 
 

Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings Social Event Interest

As mentioned during Wednesday’s contemplation, the need to take a break is essential to avoid burnout and being over-stressed. So as the first round of exams is wrapping up let us know if you are interested in watching the latest Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings this weekend.
Complete the poll on our private Facebook group or complete the brief interest survey for those not on Facebook by Friday, September 17th. Based on interest we would be attending either the 6 pm or 6:30 pm showing at the Savoy 16 theater either Saturday, September 18th or Sunday, September 19th.
