TKD Demo on Friday, February 19th at UIUC YMCA
As announced at TKD class and shared on the facebook group we have been invited to perform a brief 10-15 minute demonstration by the MBA Diversity Association. The demo would be part of the Lunar New Year celebration in UIUC YMCA on Friday, Feb. 19th. The event will occur in the evening from 6-9pm and the performance time will be finalized shortly. 

This a good opportunity to advertise the club as well a break boards and celebrate the Tae Kwon Do martial art. Also, the Korean rep from the club indicated that delicious food will be served and available to performers at the event.

 
TKD Tournament on Saturday, April 2nd at Indiana University

The Indiana University Taekwondo Club has invited our club to participate in their annual Don Burns Taekwondo Tournament. They will start out with a forms competition and then proceed to the sparring competition. All belt levels are welcome to participate, against others of similar rank.

Date: Saturday, April 2nd, 2016
Time: Registration will start at 11:00am, and the tournament will begin at 12:00pm; We expect the tournament to conclude between 5:00 and 6:00pm
Location: Wildermuth Intramural Center, courts 4, 5, 9, and 10. (1025 E. 7th St, Bloomington, IN 47405)
Costs: Sparring – $10 per person; Forms – $10 per person
Here is the list of equipment your members will need for sparring:
· Helmet · Chest protector · Arm and Shin guards · Mouthguards · For male participants a cup is required

Our club has  sparring equipment (helmet, chest protectors and arm/shin guards) for those without equipment that would like to compete.

White Belt Test Information

For those new students that are interested in taking the white belt test please inform the instructor prior to the start of class. The white belt test is a brief physical test that will take place at the end of a regularly scheduled class and be followed with questions. If you feel you comfortably know Chun Gi (first form), the school rules, and the Korean counting/terminology then you are ready to take the white belt test. You can find the school rules, definition of TKD, aims to achieve, Korean counting and terminology on our website.

Our TKD club instructors will be having white belt test opportunities from Saturday, February 13th – Saturday, February 20th. If you are unable to attend a class during that week or are not ready for the test there will be other opportunities in March. After new students pass the white belt test they have the opportunity to purchase a uniform for $18.
