Meet the Staff: Fall 2014 Edition – Berenice!

Good morning Champaign-Urbana! How are we doing in all of this snow? Two inches last night, and more flurries in the forecast? I think winter is officially here! Today’s edition of Meet the Staff features the lovely Berenice Vargas, whom we cannot blame for the cold weather because she actually just got back from a trip to Mexico! A veteran GA/TA at the Help Desk and in the Office of Instructional Technology and Design, Berenice is spending her time at GSLIS studying user experiences, competitive intelligence, government data, and information architecture—what a bundle!

Berenice’s favorite item to borrow from the Help Desk is one of our many dual-boot laptops, and she highly recommends you check one out for a day or two! Two really interesting classes that she took recently at GSLIS are Entrepreneurial IT Design and Rare Books, two different ends of the library science and information studies spectrum!

The top three things that Berenice would bring with her if she were stranded on a desert island are:

  1. chapstick
  2. a solar mp3 player
  3. sunscreen

One unique thing about Berenice is that she really loves to dance like no one is watching, and she goes to tons of concerts. Stop by the Help Desk sometime to see what she’s tuned into or to hear about her latest healthy cooking adventure! And as always, the Help Desk is also happy to provide any tech assistance you may need.
