The publish.illinois.edu service is a project within the Web@Illinois effort at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our web publishing efforts. As we looked at the web publishing landscape of campus, it was quickly noted that no tools were available for all faculty, students, and staff to quickly and easily build a web site without resorting to off-campus services.

WordPress was quickly identified as a platform on which we could address a significant portion of those needs, and a group of collaborators came together to design and implement the service.
