End of Semester Resources

Things can be stressful at the end of the semester as all the things a student has to do starts piling up!  Taking advantage of the resources available to you will go a long way toward making your life easier.  Here are a few things that you can add to your collection, if you don’t have them bookmarked already.

The Career Center Grad Portal

Just because you’re a Graduate Student doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of University resources.  It may seem like everything is geared towards helping the undergraduate population at times, but our Career Center actually does offer resources specifically for Graduate Students.  Check out this page to find information on career advising, useful workshops and available assistantships.  It’s never too early (or too late) to start looking for jobs!

The Purdue Online Writing Lab

In a crunch to finish your paper?  Realizing that you don’t know quite all the nit-picky rules for MLA or APA citation?  Check out the Online Writing Lab from Purdue’s English department for a really well laid-out set of resources.  Sure, it’s a resource being offered by another school… but the chances of them blocking all Illinois IP address so that you can’t access their materials is pretty slim!

University Library Gaming Collection

Yes, yes, you still have a good dozen pages to write… but don’t you think you will be a lot more productive after taking a quick study break?  Sure!  Go check out the gaming collection at our library and use that as a way to blow off some steam.  Or, if you want to make sure you have an excuse to be academic, play a game that you read about from Professor McDonough’s “Preserving Virtual Worlds” study.

With those three resources, you are sure to become stunningly successful and productive people!  Have other resources that we should consider?  Please post them in the comments below.
