Nick Watkins
Background:
Nick was a graduated on the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign receiving degrees in sociology and anthropology, ultimately receiving a PhD in Social and Cultural Factors in Design. Nick has worked primarily with evidence based design, devoting his work to researching how spaces can improve patient health. One of his designs was a grab bar meant to be used in patients bedrooms that would allow for easy wayfinding at night by having the bottom half of the bar be illuminated to provide a path withing tripping in the dark.

He demonstrated the importance of bridging different fields of study and created his own. This not only led to the creation of something entirely new, but allowed himself to create an irreplaceable niche for himself. By constantly studying and researching new methods, the field of evidence based design is able to grow faster and impact more lives. – RS
