Who are the Guerilla Girls?

The Guerilla Girls, founded in 1985, have been fighting for equal rights of women artists all over the world.  The lack of women artists present in museums posed as an issue for this group of women and, together, they took a stand. What began as posters on a wall, turned into artwork that has made it into museums across the country.

Why Learn About Them?

The Guerilla Girls have successfully hidden the identity of each of their members in an effort to keep the attention on the matters at hand.  The Guerilla Girls have taken every problem and setback they have encountered and turned it into a positive influence, and step forward, in their entrepreneurial endeavor.

Student Comments:

They are promoting a cause, so this is not exactly a business model. It is an artistic movement that promotes equality between men and women – AH

They are a good entrepreneur example because it teaches us that you have to think outside the box to tailor successful techniques to get people involved with your cause or product. Isn’t this what strong art is all about? – CR
