Website of the Week

Ok, we’ve all been there.  You’re working on a paper and would like to look at a particular source but to your dismay both UIUC and WorldCAT show no holdings.  After scratching your head and shouting various expletives at your computer  screen for a few minutes, what should you do?  Do you:

a.  Give up:  you don’t need the source that badly.

b.  Pretend that you’ve found it.

c.  Try the Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog (http://www.ubka.uni-karlsruhe.de/hylib/en/kvk.html)

This catalog is maintained by the Universitat Karlsruhe and allows you to check worldwide library holdings (Europe, Australia, and North America).  Additionally, it allows catalogs from various book vendors (Abebooks, Amazon, etc.) to be searched, but be aware that these links will lead you to the German site.

Once you’ve found your resource, you’ll have to log into ILLiad to make your request.  For further information, see the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery webpage. Enjoy and good luck!
