Paper on Seismic Modeling of Seat-Type Abutment Bridges

A new paper is now available on modeling and seismic analysis of seat-type abutment bridges, with focus on Illinois and the quasi-isolated design philosophy that has been adopted by the Illinois Department of Transportation:

Luo, J., Fahnestock, L.A., Kozak, D.L. and LaFave, J.M. “Seismic analysis incorporating detailed structure-abutment-foundation interaction for quasi-isolated highway bridges,” Structure and Infrastructure Engineeringdx.doi.org/10.1080/15732479.2016.1177094

The work described in this paper is part of the project Calibration and Refinement of Illinois’ Earthquake Resisting System Bridge Design Methodology: Phase II, which is sponsored by the Illinois Center for Transportation.
