Congratulations to Josh Sizemore on defending his PhD dissertation – “Inelastic Behavior and Seismic Collapse Performance of Low-Ductility Steel Braced Frames.” In January, Josh will be joining Degenkolb in Seattle as a structural engineer. Luo Doctoral Hooding
Congratulations to Jie Luo on his doctoral hooding! Dr. Luo defended his PhD dissertation in August and has been working since then for Rutherford + Chekene in San Francisco as a structural engineer. He officially receives his PhD degree this month, and returned to campus for the inaugural Doctoral Hooding Ceremony organized by the Graduate College. At the ceremony, keynote speaker Prof. Andrew Alleyne encouraged the PhD candidates to always remember that they are “awesome” and that the power of their great knowledge demands great responsibility to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Excellent advice to send off Jie and the other new PhD graduates. Best wishes to Jie in all his future endeavors!
3rd Huixian International Forum on Earthquake Engineering for Young Researchers
Save the dates: August 11-12, 2017. The 3rd Huixian International Forum on Earthquake Engineering for Young Researchers will be hosted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The deadline for abstract submission is February 28, 2017. More information will be coming in the near future. Abstract submission deadline extended to March 31, 2017 April 15, 2017.
