Final Portfolio

In regards to Philip Gerard’s interview where he explained his own discovery of a topic through writing about it, the topic I am choosing is the intersection between sports and protest.  I am going to be looking a lot at the recent events involving Colin Kaepernick and other famous athletes that have decided to kneel during the national anthem in an attempt to show their discontent with the social injustices that are taking place in America today.  A possible bias that I have are that I’ve been surrounded by this issue since the majority of the television that I watch is ESPN and that’s been a main focus ever since it came about.  This can push me towards using my own opinion since I’ve had time to learn about it and formulate an opinion.  To guard against this I can use a multitude of sources ranging from one side to the other of this debate.  This will help me to stay open to all perspectives and opinions and create a better paper.
