The metamorphosis of a butterfly is like the ideal process of writing is like to me. The writing process I encompassed has always had a natural flow especially when writing isn’t restricted and there’s no restricting topic. When I think about the natural flow and my writing process I think of a butterfly flying out of their chrysalis. A butterfly flying seems completely natural and beautiful to me and that’s how I feel about a piece of literature and the natural  flow of writing and the process of writing seems right. When a butterfly is in its leaf, as an egg waiting for days to pass by it is like brainstorming for ideas before starting an outline to a paper. Once the butterfly eggs grow into a caterpillar that’s like the writing process of a paper. As the caterpillar is waiting in its chrysalis that is like the development of the butterfly, similar to the development and adjustment of making corrections in an essay.

In my annotated bibliography I have a working thesis that is focused and backed up by several sources. I was suggested to keep on developing a better thesis. Along with having a focused thesis I also stick to my main topic, which is conservative feminism. I did not stray from addressing my main arguments to my audience by focusing on specific sources that challenged or supported my argument. In my summaries, I stay focused on what the author of that certain source has stated and later in my analysis I try not stray from my topic. I try to avoid being repetitive although my ideas generally hit similar points. I also use signal phrases and paraphrase my sources thoroughly.

I have minor formatting errors due to my header. I will try to fix this error by asking for help because I’m not so sure how to fix the error myself. I don’t have any major grammatical errors, although I did have a few citation errors due to italicizing certain titles. I also incorrectly addressed the author of an article by using their first name instead of their last name. Generally, my paper is easy to read with no major grammatical errors.

In this paper, I noticed that I did well in paraphrasing and analyzing my sources. I was struggling to paraphrase but I’m glad to see that I did well. I also didn’t make major grammatical errors and I also had a good title. I need to work on MLA formatting and how to construct a better thesis. I hope to continue to receive a good grade in my next paper by closely following the rubric and assignment details.

I have been reading the Pedagogical goals of each unit, although I will admit that I focus more on completing the assignment given rather than taking in the assignment as acknowledging how the goals could further build upon each other. The most recent pedagogical goal the folder of unit three is “ In this unit, we will work on extending our writing skills. We’ll look more deeply at sources as we continue our research and synthesize the information we have found about our topics. We will enter the conversation!”. This Pedagogical goal does align with my own goals for this class because I want to be able to adequately analyze and research on y own topic that I am actually interested in. I hope to learn further about current events of the political topic we have chosen to have a better understanding of my surrounding and worldviews. These goals might help my participation in the academic community because by accomplishing these goals I’m becoming more aware and experienced in a skill that I had not previously been able to master which could open opportunities to new understanding and perspective of issue or topics.

The topic I chose to encompass for my research paper is conservative feminism and how it is not self-contradictory. The reason as to why I think this is an important topic is because conservatism itself and feminism, are two separate concepts that are constantly evolving and changing. Both concepts have different meanings for different people. That is why I choose to define conservative feminism, regarding gender, not determining a woman’s political or feminist ideology, therefore a woman can be both conservative and feminist. I also chose this topic because I consider myself a feminist and I struggled to understand the perspective of a millennial conservative woman. I didn’t think it was possible for a woman to share Republican ideologies while supporting the empowerment of women, mostly because of republican representative arent knew for supporting feminism. Some sources that I’m planning to attain are from the archive and research center and include primary and secondary sources.

For my research paper, the first topic that piqued my interest, in the blog post, has to do with what the public can do to help prevent climate change and if climate change is real. To make the climate change topic less general I want to focus on meat consumption to answer the question; Can the public prevent climate change? Another topic I had in mind was how does social media affect adolescents to participate in political events or want to be more politically active? Another topic I had in mind was conservative feminism, and if it is possible to be both conservative and a feminist. I would have biases for all the topics listed because I don’t eat meat and I’m a feminist adolescent who believes that climate change is real. For example when Gerard states, “ I didn’t know a thing about the Civil War when I started. I hope my sense of discovery comes across when the reader discovers it”, is what I imagine I’ll be going through because although I am aware of certain topics, I haven’t dived into them enough to know an exact answer. Similarly, Bittner dives into his research without knowing what his ideal outcome will be and enjoys bird watching rather than analyzing through scientific investigation. I also have strong opinions about conservative ideologies and how conservative representatives in no way shape or form support feminist values. To prevent myself from assuming outcomes or answers to my topic, I would research multiple viewpoints and perspectives. In order to make my paper different, I must choose multiple sources to research and analyze different perspectives that go along with my topic.

Possible media artifacts I would use for my e-portfolio would include photos, links, notes, and drawings. I would consider myself a creative individual and I would definitely add photos of the scenery I study best in, which would most likely be outdoors. I also enjoy filming, perhaps I could film the place in which I study the most. Because my favorite way of taking notes is through writing with a pen, while using paper, I would post a picture of my notes. As well as using my notes, I would use links that inspire my writing process or past essays and poetry depending on the assignment, that inspire me. I mentioned posting drawings, sometimes when I doodle it helps me come up with ideas for my writing process. Although it can be a bit of a distraction it is the process I go through in order to have my brain function. I could also use audio clips of feedback that someone gives me in a certain essay or notes that the person gives me.

In this paper, I had a good descriptive title, and I need to work on my grammar usage. I definitely made numerous punctuation and grammatical errors that I need to work on, it is what I struggle with the most. I also didn’t introduce my sources well enough and could have been more descriptive. As well as being more descriptive, I didn’t use the proper format when typing my paper. I can correct these issues by not only looking over the rubric that was given but by reviewing basic grammar structure in OWL. I am working on sentence structure and grammar by figuring out what day I can go to OWL. I can get a better grade by revising my work and making sure I follow the rubric.
