Revised Critical Response #1

When I was revising my first critical response I noticed that my writing seemed very repetitive and I think it was because I wasn’t sure what style of writing I wanted to use. I also felt like I was a bit hesitant when formulating my ideas because it was one of my first longer assignments. When writing my first response paper I wasn’t sure where to start and how Ms.Hays graded each assignment or what she looked for in each response paper, but I did pay attention to what was on the rubric and I was a bit intimidated by the assignment. I also noticed that I didn’t cite any of my sources or use many sources so I went back to the assignment and adjusted the citing.  The process of learning how to properly cite a source is not only valuable because of the fact that I could possibly plagiarize but because I learned that it is important to give your source credit. I also enjoyed the presentation given in class about plagiarism because most of what I learned was new to me and I didn’t know that it was possible to plagiarize myself. Another issue that I addressed was removing grammatical errors, I previously stated in other reflections how I struggle with that and will work on becoming better which I think I have.

Revised Critical Response #2

While Revising my critical response I noticed that I made the same grammatical error due to Ms.Hays’s comments which really helped me become more aware of the mistakes I was making. For this critical response I decided to include citations because before taking this class I wasn’t completely familiar with what format to use and how I would exactly cite websites. After taking Rhetoric 105 I am much more comfortable with the idea of citing and analyzing a source. I also decided to change certain word choice I use in some sentences as well as adding my own opinion, and change by learning more about the people I mention in my response. I thought that it would be a good change of style of writing to make a before and after comparison of what I originally thought about Adler, Lammot, and Bradbury but then including how I applied what I learned throughout my first semester. Overall The main change I wanted to make was actually trying to quote my sources and figure out how to properly introduce them as well as fixing other minor grammatical errors. I also can say that I definitely could cite my source adequately as well as feel more capable to add my own opinion on certain subject because in high school it seemed wrong to add the word I or incorporate my in a sentence and now I feel like if I present my opinion in an appropriate way it’s not a bad choice to make.
