Revisions major assignments

Revised Annotated Bibliography

I decided to revise my annotated bib because I had grammatical errors but I also thought that I was missing a strong thesis especially due to Ms.Hays’ helpful comments. I also decided to incorporate a stronger thesis because before taking Rhetoric 105 I didn’t fully understand what a thesis was and how it could impact an essay. Through this assignment, I found that my thesis is what I think held the “nugget” in my annotated bib and what made it seem more put together in relation to concepts and ideas that I had about my topic. I also realized that I had improved in summarizing when I saw the grade I received. I doubted my writing capabilities and thought that I wasn’t summarizing correctly and words didn’t seem to work or flow, but I realized I had to begin somewhere and to see that I was able to write substantial summaries and analysis made me believe I had improved. When making revisions I also took into account the word choice I decided to use and deleted a few words that I thought were not necessary. Overall I made sure to fix the errors I made based on the comments Ms.Hays gave me and tried to enhance the significance behind why I choose some of my sources.

Revised Annotated Bib

For my slideshow writing proposal, I decided to add different word choice and fix grammatical issues and other comments made by Ms.Hays. Throughout my years in high school, I always struggled with grammatical issues and found that I’m definitely going to continue to work on improving my writing, word choice, and misplaced words or phrases. I sometimes feel pressured to not make any errors because I’m an English major and a lot of people that I’ve spoken to expect me to have impeccable grammar and writing skills but it’s only my first semester getting to learn more about improving my analytical and writing skills. I do believe that I have improved on learning from grammatical issues especially by practicing and looking over the rules of simple errors that I make.  I also do think what I have learned in Rhetoric 105, is that being able to make errors to then continue to adjust them and generate a great end result is important, not stressful. I also thought revising my slideshow helped me incorporate new aspects to improve my annotated bibliography because I found myself making similar errors but overall I thought the comments and process of correcting made it easier for me to correct other assignments.

Revised Political Party Platform: Green Party

When Revising my Green Party platform essay I received a lot of feedback from Ms.Hays that I took into account. I made a lot of grammatical issues in my first major essay and from that point on I was more aware of grammar and decided to be more diligent when revising. I also added the required word choice Ms.Hays wanted from the Rhetorical point of view. The skill of revising is something that helped me a lot throughout this semester. Not only did I revise my own work but I also had a group who helped me a lot with revising. Without the help of my group members, I wouldn’t notice small errors or major errors and it helps me think outside my bubble when I have more creative mindsets helping me identify a new thought process or perhaps something I had missed while writing. Another part of my process when revising this essay was reading my essay aloud, doing this made me realize how some of my sentence fragments were made, and how I could have easily fixed those errors in the first place. I realized that the errors I made were because I was familiar with the formatting or style of writing but now I do feel more comfortable with the formatting and vocabulary I’ve learned in Rhetoric 105.
