Come celebrate getting through the academic year at our first (and final) in-person event of the semester. Whether this is your first or last SACNAS event come enjoy some delicious food and hang out with your fellow SACNISTAs on the last day of classes. In addition, it is during this event that we will be announcing our incoming board for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Join us in our first installment of SACNAS + WCC + YCC’s three-part financial wellness series. Part 1 is focused on investing. Financial educator Karen Chan will be leading our session titled “Investing Made Simple,” where she will make stocks, bonds and mutual funds crystal clear using the story of a young company and its investors. We have a STEM alumni panel featuring Dr. Alicia Cintora (’14), Dalia Portillo (’19) and Alondra Sanchez (’20) on Monday April 26th @ 4pm. Our panelists have a wide range of experiences across STEM fields in industry and academia and will be discussing life at and after UIUC! Please join us Tuesday, March 16th at 4 pm CT for a panel with three accomplished Latinas in STEM! Dr. Maria Mouchess (23andMe), Dr. Gabriela Sosa (Texas A&M), and Dr. Yolanda Vasquez (Oklahoma State) will join us to discuss their respective experiences in STEM fields.

Hey everyone, this Thursday, March 11, 2021 @ 6pm CT we will be co-hosting a virtual town hall about COVID-19 with other organizations on campus. This event was conceived with the goal to equip Black and Latinx communities with the latest information on the virus given that these groups have been disproportionately affected.

At SACNAS and Friends chapter we are a family and as a family we wanted to celebrate our AMAZING members through a Student Spotlight Series!
To start us off, we are highlighting our member and Undergraduate Liaison: Vanessa Blas.
Vanessa Blas (Systems Engineering ’22)
Vanessa is an undergrad, a junior in Systems Engineering. She decided to join SACNAS to find community within STEM, as she found it difficult at times to find motivation and a sense of belonging. Vanessa joined part of the board as Undergraduate Liaison after helping out with the concha and hot chocolate fundraising event, she enjoys being around the many grad members within SACNAS. In her free time, she likes to edit and take pictures of different scenery for Instagram and she loves to listen to Myke Towers.
