Are LSOs required to be in charge of waste disposal for their labs?

Not formally. Coordinating waste disposal is often assigned to LSOs in addition to their other safety duties, but it can fall to any lab member. Even in labs where the LSO is not in charge of waste disposal, they often serve as a resource to other lab members who haven’t learned proper waste disposal.
