Hello! My name is Kate Oates and my two works in the show are “Life Standing Still” and “Small Bird”.
“Life Standing Still” is an 18” x 24” graphite and pen drawing that was drawn during my observational drawing class this semester. I really enjoyed incorporating different ways to draw in it, including cross contour, hatching, and tonal drawing.
My second work, “Small Bird” is an acrylic painting that is 11” x 14”. I enjoyed creating the feathery texture on the bird as well as creating texture in the moss on the rock.
