Heather Sandy is a visual artist and designer who grew up in Dayton, Ohio and relocated to Illinois for graduate school. Sandy holds an MFA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in Illinois (2015) and earned a BFA and minor in art history from the University of Dayton in Ohio (2011). As an artist, Heather has shown work throughout the Midwest, including Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri. Recent accomplishments include: first place in the 2021 Art for Health and Unity Competition sponsored by Unity in Action Magazine in Champaign, IL; selection in the 29th annual Cedarhurst Biennial juried show in Mt. Vernon, IL; selection in the 28th Annual Juried Art Exhibit of the Thyen- Clark Cultural Center in Jasper, Indiana; the Zhou B. Spirit Award in the National Wet Paint MFA Biennial in Chicago, IL; and third place in the St. Charles Plein Air Event 2020 at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, Missouri. Currently she is an art instructor and head of the art department at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois. Her current body of work utilizes a combination of digital and traditional processes to bring her surreal mixed media visions to life.
