In “An Interview with Philip Gerard,” Gerard stated, “I really don’t believe in write what you know. I believe in write what you really want to find out about.” Here, Gerard is interpreting that one should not write a research paper on a topic one is already familiarized with, but instead choose a topic one is truly passionate about learning. I strongly agree with Gerard’s judgment because if one chose a topic they already know about, then it won’t be as interesting when typing the paper. Instead, it’d be better if one chose a different topic to learn and absorb new information. In “100 Current Events Research Paper Topics with Research Links,” there are many research topics divided into categories that one can choose from. With that being said, I have decided to focus my research paper on Planned Parenthood and its funding. Planned Parenthood is an organization that gives advice on family planning, contraception, and reproductive problems. After our recent election, many conservative officials are seeking to remove government funding to the organization. Whether one agrees with the idea or not, I want to gain useful information on the funding of this organization. I want to learn about the effects it will not only have on women, but also on men.
