WRC Fall Internship Now Open:

Applications for the Fall 2020 semester are currently OPEN, and will remain open until all positions are filled. The four different positions are Programming Intern, Advocacy Intern, Graphic Design Intern, and Marketing & Communications Intern. Position descriptions can be found below. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview during finals week, or as applications are received.

Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR):

To support social distancing practices, OIIR and its units will be closed to the public. Staff in these units will continue to work remotely and can be reached via phone or e-mail during regular business hours (Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm).

GWS 275 (The Politics of Fashion):

Explore the Politics of Fashion this Fall! Satisfy your General Education Criteria Fall 2020 for Cultural Studies – U.S. Minority by taking GWS 275: Politics of Fashion (CRN 71454)! The class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:00 – 11:50 a.m., and discussions are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

We CU Community Engaged Scholars:

University of Illinois is launching a new campus-wide program this summer called “We CU Community Engaged Scholars.” The program is aimed at empowering University of Illinois students to respond to community needs and challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. LAS Summer Advising Hours:

Academic advisors are here during the summer and ready to meet with you. You can add your name to the LAS Virtual Advising Queue and speak with someone in just a few minutes via Zoom or phone. If you would like to speak with a specific college-level advisor, make an appointment here and select LAS Student Academic Affairs Advising, LAS AAP Advising, LAS Career Development, LAS International Programs, or LAS Honors. You can also email at las-studentoffice@illinois.edu. Advising hours for summer are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Verdell Frazier Young Scholarship:

Applications for the Verdell Frazier Young Award are being accepted. The Verdell Frazier Young Award was established to assist women who have had an interruption in pursuing a college degree (undergraduate or graduate). The application is open and accepting rolling applications. Priority consideration will be given to applications submitted by midnight Sunday, May 10. GLOBE Fall 2020:

Apply today to become a GLOBE member! Blue applications are now being accepted with a priority date of Wednesday, July 1. Details and application links are here. Global Leaders Orange and Blue Engagement (GLOBE) offers you an opportunity to make connections with orange members (incoming students), build intercultural communication skills, leadership experience, and lifelong friendships.

Online Workshop:

As COVID-19 forces society to distance ourselves from each other, the Illinois Leadership Center (ILC) has been and continues developing online modules designed to enhance a variety of competencies from the Illinois Model of Leadership. Below are the current modules available or in progress:

Online Integrity i-Program:

The Online Integrity i-Program focuses on skills necessary for interpersonal and organizational ethical leadership. Students who participate in online Integrity will engage in virtual discussions and complete activities around values, ethics, and morals and discuss how to successfully navigate them.
