The second major assignment we were assigned prepared us for the third assignment: our research paper. The goal of the annotated bibliography and research proposal was to come up with an exigent topic to write out papers about by reading different arguments. Exigence, as defined by Dictionary.com, is “a case or situation that demands prompt action or remedy; emergency:” Professor Hays defined exigence as an open-ended topic with many opinions.

I received a good grade on this paper too! (94.75/100) Here are Professor Mary’s comments:

The overall goal of this paper’s revision is fix the formatting mistakes on my annotated bibliography. Because this is just a small issue, I can “self-grade” myself once again and catch any mistakes the teacher may have missed.

Formatting is crucial to a works cited page. Formatting such as italicizing and underlining can be the difference between a movie, book, or newspaper article.

According to Professor Hays, book, movie and periodical titles should be italicized while articles, stories, and other short works should be in quotation marks.

In this book citation, I failed to italicized the book title. The reader has no idea what the title of the book is. Let’s change that!
