Interest

Tooba Latif joined INHS on April 16 as a Visiting Senior Scientific Specialist in the Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiology laboratory at INHS-PRI. She got her Ph.D. in Wildlife and Ecology from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, Pakistan. Her Ph.D. research was on antibiotic resistance profiling and virulence genes in bacterial species prevalent in captive and wild birds. She joined the Hong Kong University-Pasteur Research Pole as a research associate working on antimicrobial resistance in One Health. Health, Specialising in MALDI-TOF spectrometry and antimicrobial susceptibility assays using a Thermo Scientific Sensititre system. During her master’s, she worked as a research associate in epidemiology and molecular characterization of Aeromonas spp. isolates from Pakistani farmed carp. Tooba also dedicated two years to a project on the Epidemiology and characterization of bacterial pathogens associated with Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome and Motile Aeromonas Septicemia in fish after her B.Sc. in zoology. In these projects, she has had the opportunity to contribute to scientific research articles. At the Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiology Lab, she is involved in genetic research on Chronic Wasting Disease and studying bacterial communities in white-tailed deer.
