Postdoctoral Research Associate

Epidemiology of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

The Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiology Laboratory at the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS) – Prairie Research Institute of the University of Illinois (https://www.inhs.illinois.edu/directory/show/nohram) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study the Epidemiology of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in Illinois white-tailed deer. Topics of interest include use of modeling techniques to evaluate variables influencing current and future clusters of CWD in Illinois; elucidating risk factors influencing variation in rates of infection; modeling the impact of CWD on the white-tailed deer herd. The work entails the use of epidemiological modeling, GIS tools, and strong collaborative interactions with biologists, faculty, staff, and students across INHS and the U of I campus.

Genetic Epidemiology- Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

The Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiology Laboratory at the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS) (https://www.inhs.illinois.edu/directory/show/nohram) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study genetic characteristics, gene flow and prion sequence polymorphisms of managed white tailed deer in Illinois. Topics of interest include use of modeling and genetic techniques in the study of CWD in Illinois; genetic evaluation of geographical clusters of CWD infection, the use population genetic analysis to describe patterns of genetic structure, spatial distribution, and gene flow that draw insights into the epidemiology and management of CWD. The work entails the use of molecular tool epidemiological modeling, GIS tools, and strong collaborative interactions with biologists, faculty, staff, and students across INHS and the U of I campus.
