Critical Response 2-Revision

Critical Response 2-Original

Reflection

I chose to revise this paper by supplementing my writing with new ideas and properly addressing the prompt.

This was the assignment I scored the worst on this semester and found it fitting to revise it. To begin, I did not properly address more than one of the readings. I chose to focus on the interview with Bradbury and not any of the other pieces. I knew this was the biggest issue with the piece, so I began by rereading Lamott’s piece, “Shitty First Drafts.” I believe Bradbury’s attitude in the interview mirrored a lot of the ideas she was presenting and figured I could smoothly incorporate this. I also had some informational and grammatical errors, which I addressed. I, for some reason, asserted that Bradbury had written Slaughterhouse-five and continued to strongly reference this book in my response. Despite having read both works; Slaughterhouse-five, by Kurt Vonnegut, and Fahrenheit 451, by Bradbury, my mind failed me mixing up the authors and their popular books.

After eliminating this misinformation, I was easily able to draw ties between Lamott’s piece and Bradbury’s attitude. I added a works cited page, which I had forgotten to do, ensuring that the pieces I reference are receiving recognition. In revising this work, I was able to see my growth as a writer. Having already revised my most recent essay, I am able to tell that I have grown significantly in my writing construction. I find it much easier to write focused papers with complex ideas and revising my critical response highlighted my progress.
