Applications are due by February 15, 2025, for Fall 2025 admission. Please apply online through the Graduate College website, under “New Illinois Graduate Applicants.”
Admission to the M.S. Advertising program requires complete of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of recognized standing, along with the following requirements:
- Official transcripts from all universities that you have attended
- Three letters of recommendation
- A Statement of Purpose is required for all students
- GRE (or GMAT) – GRE requirements are waived for the Fall 2025 applicants. However, if you have taken the GRE and would like to submit your scores, please submit it with your application. If you have any questions regarding GRE submission, please contact Graduate Administrative staff Heather Hendren at hhendren@illinois.edu
- TOEFL and GRE/GMAT scores should be sent from the testing center to the University of Illinois. This is done electronically. Please note that only international students need to do the TOEFL.

Admission decisions are made in mid-late March. You should know by the end of March whether or not you’ve been admitted.
