March 2019 Visit

Our team has returned from another productive trip to the Denali! During our March visit, we had the opportunity to continue meeting folks in the local communities, conduct interviews, and facilitate focus groups. We learned about the ways people characterize the Denali region through four focus groups in Cantwell, Anderson, and McKinley Village. In-depth interviews conducted with folks from several communities, including Talkeetna, provided detailed narratives about the importance of the region. During this trip we also convened a group of local leaders to receive feedback on our progress and suggestions for next steps. In addition to data collection, we had fun on a few hikes and experienced dog mushing with a local business owner!

Since returning, we have been busy with data analysis and reflecting on our wonderful experiences during this trip. We will be back in July to continue our research, but keep an eye out for more updates through a newsletter we will be distributing soon!
