Fall 2018 Visit

Our research team kicked off our project in Denali this fall. During an October visit we met with several folks living in local communities who were interested in hearing more about our project. Many were excited about the prospect of this study and expressed interest in being involved. We met with representatives from the National Park Service, the Tri-Valley and Cantwell schools, the Cantwell community, local business owners, and more. Our team packed in a busy schedule of informal meetings, interviews, puppies (yes, puppies!), and a drive down the infamous park road during our four-day visit.

Since returning to Illinois, our team has been busy with data analysis and planning for our next visit. This has been an exciting time for us to reflect on our past trip and the project as a whole. We have been continuing data collection remotely and are eager to get back to the Denali Region in the spring.

Our team spending some time with Superintendent Don Striker, Disco, and the other Denali National Park and Preserve sled dogs.
