The Indian government has procured a record amount of wheat from the state of Haryana this year totaling 75 lakh tonnes, with more on its way. Due to the high amount of wheat still incoming, farmers have been banned from bringing wheat from neighboring Uttar Pradesh. Lack of adequate storage facilities, as well as slow movement of rice and wheat to other storage facilities in neighboring states poses a large problem for postharvest storage of crops.
