As the fall semester comes to a close, we look back upon the achievements of our library faculty and academic professionals from the summer and fall. U of I researchers have traveled around the globe, collaborating with other Illinois community members and other scholars worldwide to advance research in their fields. From poster presentations to keynote speeches and round table discussions, we commend our researchers for their excellent contributions to the U of I and to Library and Information Science and other disciplines. A bibliography of these select presentations can be found below.
U of I librarians will be participating in the 2016 International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions World Library and Information Congress (IFLA WLIC) and various IFLA WLIC satellite conferences this month. IFLA WLIC will take place in Columbus, Ohio on August 13-19. Their involvement includes presentations, work on committees, and organization of satellite conference events. IFLA WLIC will also include a special celebration for the 25th anniversary of The Mortenson Center for International Library Programs.
Spring saw University of Illinois Library faculty and academic professionals traveling the world both physically and virtually to give keynotes, present webinars, and participate in panels. Topics included extending information literacy capacity to better serve international students or to include intersections with scholarly communication, eighteenth century ritual and popular culture, support for underrepresented groups in technology, and more. The following list is just a sampling of the many ways library faculty and academic professionals at Illinois contributed back to their professional communities in the past few months.
The 2015 Library Research Showcase was just a sampling of the research pursued by University of Illinois Library faculty and academic professionals. In the course of the Fall you could also find them representing Illinois and sharing knowledge with their colleagues at a wide range of events, often invited to speak due to their prominence in the field. Below are some of the places you may have found librarians addressing such issues as research data management, digital preservation, information literacy, discovery, inclusiveness…and more.
