In my view, writing is not a step by step thing like building a house or hatching an egg. When I start writing on a different topic, it is like meeting the destined lover and having a great adventure in my mind- a process of surprises and creations. I have just finished watching the currently most famous Anime movie ‘Your Name’ , which tells a story of lovers travelling through the time. Its plot has greatly moved me, and gave me the idea to make the story a metaphor of my writing life.

In the story, Taki is a male high school student living in Tokyo and Mitsuha is a female high school student living in the country side. One day after waking up, they surprisingly found themselves into each other’s body- it is not a dream.

My inspiration also comes like a surprise in my life. Sometimes, an idea will appear when I am leisurely walking on the street and that flash of thoughts become my motivation to form a writing.

When the body change happened several times, both of them were aware of what was happening in their lives. Therefore, they started to communicate with each other by leaving messages when their body get changed. In order to not influence their daily lives, they agreed to try to pretend themselves as the original persons.

In writing, when an idea comes, I will always try to ‘talk’ to it, in order to refine it in my mind. When I gathered enough details, I will try to link them with in order to form a thesis, a perspective.

It was not until one day the strange body change stopped that they realized they could not be apart from each other’s words. Taki felt his love to Mitsuha, although they had never truly ‘meet’ each other.

When I already have a clear image of what  I want to write about, writing becomes a fortunate job. The process is falling in love with the flow of mind.

When Taki went to find Mitsuha, he could not see either Mistuha or her village, but a huge lake. People said the place was destroyed by the falling of meteorite three years ago, and more than five hundred people died in the disaster- including Mitsuha. Taki realized that Mitsuha actually lived in time three years before his and started to check tons of document in order to find the secret of their body change and time gap. Finally, Taki drank Mitsuha’s chewed wine and successful time travelled again- he was going avoid Mitsuha’s death and tell her his true emotions this time.

Sometimes when the flow of inspiration get cut off, I will use all my effort to link it again, by reading a related book or going to a relaxing place. I am going to keep refining ideas by exploring what I can do, until finally my writing becomes perfect.
