Jane Baumgartner assists the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, and Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing of information received via correspondence, reports, email, and telephone. She serves as a liaison for the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning with academic and administrative units across campus. She also provides support for the Administrative Budget Committee, Budget Officers Council, and Campus Budget Reform Committee.

As the Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, Dr. Bernhard oversees the campus’ academic programs, policies, and priorities, which are designed to ensure the quality of the educational experience for students and to sustain an environment that encourages and supports academic excellence through diversity, inclusion, and free inquiry, debate, and speech. In this role, he works closely with the chancellor, the other vice chancellors, the deans of academic colleges and other units, academic staff, the Senate of the Illinois campus, and various committees in setting overall academic priorities for the campus.

As the Associate Director for Capital Planning, Brian Bundren contributes to creating a culture of space stewardship on campus that aligns with the strategic space planning goals. This includes reducing leased space and improving utilization to compliment the campus’s sustainability goals, including space reduction and no net increase.

Melissa Chan is a Major Awards Coordinator who facilitates the identification of major scholarly awards and recognitions to ensure successful faculty are appropriately recognized. She works in conjunction with the colleges on campus to nominate University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign faculty for these designations.

Xiaobei Chen is the Director of Reporting and Data Analysis. She provides comprehensive data to support the budget and financial analysis functions of the Office of the Vice Provost/Associate Chancellor for Budget and Resource Planning and is responsible for the management and execution of a wide variety of operational tasks and analyses to inform institutional decision-making, policy-making, and strategic planning.

As the Assistant Director of General Education Assessment, Hannah Choi facilitates the learning outcomes assessment process for the university’s General Education Program. She collaborates with the General Education Assessment Committee to provide strategies and guidance for the program assessment as well as support for compliance initiatives for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

As the Director of Faculty Recruitment, Dana Cohen oversees faculty recruitment, orientation, and retention strategy across the University of Illinois campus, as well as the Dual Career Program at Illinois Human Resources. In this role, she works closely with deans and department heads to improve the recruitment and retention of top faculty talent and to support talent acquisition needs for academic leadership. She also continually assesses current faculty recruitment practices and initiatives across campus to identify areas for improvement of institutional strategic goals.

Assistant Provost and Director of the Division of Management Information (DMI) Amy Edwards leads the team that provides data and information that allows administrative leaders to make thoughtful and data-driven decisions. She is responsible for managing DMI with the goal of assisting campus administrators, faculty, and staff in obtaining timely, accurate, and appropriate information from the university's administrative databases.

Courtney Gant is the Director of Chancellor/Provost Shared Business Services. She oversees the operational and fiscal management of the Shared Business Services. She is the college-level budget contact for offices of the Chancellor, the Provost, and the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Operations (VCAO), including smaller units that report up within the Chancellor, Provost and VCAO college organizational structures. In addition, she manages the Chancellor commitments and initiative funding and records commitments and manages transfers in the Provost Commitment System.

Vicky Gress is the Interim Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning. In this role, Ms. Gress provides strategic budget planning and allocation advice to the Chancellor and Provost, guidance to the university in areas related to budget, finance, planning and resource allocation, leadership and management of the campus budget office, and serves as campus chief financial officer. She also holds the role of Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning.

Jamie Hackett is the Assistant Provost and Director of Budget Operations. She directs and coordinates the detailed budget preparation and consolidation of operating budget for the university, oversees the budget development process, forecasts tuition and various miscellaneous revenues, coordinates the tuition requests for the Board of Trustees, and oversees and executes ICR policy changes and distributions. Jamie also serves on campus-appointed committees.

As the Communications Associate, Stephanie Henry coordinates various means of communications for the Office of the Provost through research, writing, editing, and synthesizing information about people, events, activities, and initiatives, and transmits that information to diverse audiences. She assists with annual communications planning and strategy, working together with the Office of Public Affairs to develop, carry out, and manage a full array of communications activities to ensure that the Office of the Provost's many stakeholders are kept aware of critical and emerging issues and projects.
