Deutsche Welle, one of Germany’s top international television broadcasters, is making ambitious plans to increase its reach in Latin America. Currently, Deutsche Welle broadcasts two hours of Spanish language TV per day. As of February 6, 2012, that programming will increase to 20 hours daily.

Germany’s commitment to increase international broadcasting in Latin America highlights the growing prominence of Latin America in world affairs. Mexican president Felipe Calderon has praised this move, calling the program “a bridge to Europe, and Germany in particular.”
