Blake graduated from Hamilton College in 2023 with a BA in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and a minor in Computer Science. As an undergraduate, he worked with Professor Michael Welsh in the characterization of SpoVDE, a peptidoglycan polymerase complex. In his senior year, Blake worked with Professor Ryan Martinie to gain a mechanistic understanding of the enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of Pantocin A. Blake joined the Hergenrother lab in the Fall of 2023 and is working towards the development of narrow spectrum antibiotics.
