Reflection

People are protected by many amendments but that may not lead always lead toward justice. That we have a long way to go to receive true equality. This saddens me because currently we are facing crisis that has even reached my new home here at the University. Race has become a trending topic over the past year, because of the rise of injustice.  Equality is a hot topic and this while rewriting this assignment, respect was a reoccurring theme. Everyone wants to be treated as a human, and nothing less.

History was also a big issue in the movie that is also brought up when people talk about race. History will show you how important it is to be in a day and age with such freedoms. Most of the things that were precious to our ancestors was taken from them, and what they did have is keep sacred and treated with so much respect. Teeter’s is standing up for her race, is just like some of the current civil rights activist are for minorities. Not everyone has a voice, but we all have ideas and thoughts. We have a free will, and our own thoughts that make us free willed. Injustice such as seen in the movie is still very prevalent. Not everyone has the same views on equality which is why there is so much tension when civil rights come up.

For this this revision I really had to step into her shoes and try to imagine what Charlene Teeter’s was actually experiencing. This is a feeling like no other, to be depicted on a national scale is quite embarrassing. She is such a strong women and people should respect her for what she has done.
