Thesis – Although there is a high amount of violence involving killings, shootings, and gangs in the Chicago land area, there has to be a way for the violence to be controlled or stopped. What solutions can be made to decrease the violence in Chicago?

It has a lot of strong evidence and support to talk about the correlation between neighborhoods, violence, and individuals. It would be a reliable resource for my essay and thesis since it helps give a study that relates to why there is so much violence in Chicago. Therefore, we can find a solution to the issue and give ideas towards decreasing the Chicago violence. The source is quite recent, so it could be a reliable source for that as well.

Summary: The source is supposed to go against my thesis and be the opposite of what I am trying to prove. It talks about how many think Chicago is the most dangerous city; however, it has dropped a lot of its crime rates and violence statistics. It also surveys people’s opinion on how safe and unsafe Chicago is to them; however, it is hard to tell if this is a reliable source if it is just opinions from a certain amount of individuals. The average amount of firearm homicide deaths has decreased over the past few years. The amount of non-fatal violent firearm crime has decreased over the past few years. The amount of non-fatal violent crime has decreased over the past few years. These statistics make it seem like Chicago is getting better and does not support my thesis or claim.
Analysis: I believe the source is actually popular instead of scholarly because of the opinion basis on the Chicago violence. Many sources will try to make a rebuttal on my thesis by saying that the crime rate has dropped; however, there is still a lot of crimes and killings compared to other places. It has some hard facts on the violence decreasing; however, it has opinions and not a lot of people answered to the survey. The survey was irrelevant since it was so few people, and they might of not actually experienced living in Chicago. The source is recent, so it could be reliable for the thesis and essay.

It shows how sad it can be when a child is begging to grow up and is scared to even walk around his or her neighborhood. It is a dangerous world out there, and children should be able to live a normal childhood.

The picture helps demonstrate an eye opening feeling to the audience since they have never seen these statistics before, and they are probably not aware of how dangerous it is in the city of Chicago. The source will be helpful in an essay since it can give the statistics of what’s happening in Chicago and why we should take action for all these problems.
