Update!! Application deadline extended!! Girls’ Astronomy Summer Camp 2018

We are exited to announce that application is now open for the 2018 Girls’ Astronomy Summer Camp!

This summer camp for high school girls (entering grades 10 to 11) will be focused on hands-on astronomy projects and learning about real-life research experience as women in science.

Camp highlights include build your own telescope, watch 3D science movies in the NCSA visualization lab, tours to the South Pole Telescope Lab and astrobiology lab, work with scientist on real data in campus computer labs, observation sessions at the University of Illinois observatory (a historical landmark), talk to women astrophysicists about their research!

Dates & times: July 24 & 25, 9 am to 4 pm. With optional night observation sessions!  (Lunch is included.)

Application Deadline: Extended!! May 31st!!

The AstroIllini are a group of faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduates from the UIUC Astronomy Department interested in conducting astronomy related Education and Public Outreach (EPO) both on the UIUC campus and in the surrounding Urbana-Champaign community. Events cover a wide range of audiences and ages, including visits to local schools, on-campus presentations, and events at local venues.
