We are exited to announce that applications are now open for the 2021 Girls’ Astronomy Summer Camp!
This online summer camp for high school students will be focused on hands-on astronomy projects. Join this one-week summer camp to play with real astronomical data and hang with UIUC professors and graduate students!
Camp highlights:
Work on real Hubble data, explore space with an online planetarium show, observe stars and planets in a nighttime observing session, and talk to UIUC astrophysicists about their research.
Camp dates & times:
July 12-16, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM & 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM. Optional in-person night observing, weather permitting.
Who is eligible:
High school students entering grades 10-12 who are interested in astronomy and programming and want to learn in a girl-centered environment. This camp aims to support girls interested in astronomy and related fields, but students of any gender can apply. Since this year’s camp is online, students from anywhere can apply. Space is limited to 25 students, selection will be based on the camp essay. Essays will be evaluated based on interest in astronomy, and past experience with the subject is not required.
