May 7-9, 2018 – BTAA Technical Trainers Conference at Purdue
Many technology trainers hope their workshops will be well attended, but most agree that getting customers to show up is their number one issue. At Illinois we have seen great success getting large turnouts by adapting a traditional face-to-face LMS workshop into a presentation and demonstration format for the Illinois Graduate Academy. The primary reason for this success is that the Graduate Academy is a biannual conference required for new teaching assistants. This session will present methods for converting traditional face-to-face training into a format suitable for a conference. We’ll discuss presentation strategies to ensure large audiences are engaged. We’ll also talk about tailoring the presentation to the conference’s target demographic. Finally, we’ll close by highlighting our biggest lessons learned and goals for future sessions.
