About Me

Dana KinleyWelcome to my blog! I am Dana Frohning Kinley.  I live in Springfield, Illinois with my four children Whittington (20), Lincoln (17), Graham (15), Gracie (12), and two mini dachshunds Cocoa and Reese.  I am the Assistant Superintendent for Jacksonville School District 117 where I work primarily with human resources and public relations.  The work is challenging and invigorating as the needs of students, families, and staff are diverse; the opportunities for learning are unending; and the landscape of public education is ever-changing.  I consider myself a change junkie, so my career choice in public education has proven just right for me.

Currently I am working on my doctorate degree at UIUC  in Education, Policy, and Organizational Leadership with a specialization in human resources.  I have graduation 2015 stars in my eyes as I have three classes remaining and my dissertation.  While I have loved the learning opportunities provided while working on my doctorate, I am ready to reclaim my life and get back to spending more time with family and doing the things I enjoy doing.

HRD 533 fulfills one of the four cognate classes that I need to complete a specialization in human resources.  The opportunity to learn more about elearning as a viable tool for developing staff is timely because fiscal resources available to public education are rapidly declining.  I am looking forward to learning new ideas about how to utilize technology for cost-efficient approaches for organizations to provide professional development and staff in-service.

The quote that best summarizes me is, “I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul ~William Ernest Henley
