Leadership Opportunities

The Illinois Leadership Center is a great place to experience opportunities that you never imagined. The Illinois Leadership Center at the University of Illinois provides students, faculty and staff with opportunities to develop, or enhance, essential leadership skills.  Programs and services provide leadership training through both academic coursework and experiential programming.They help provide the ‘experience you need for life’ to be successful in your community, organizations, and relationships.

The Leadership Center offers a wide variety of programs including the Leadership Minor, which is an interdisciplinary 17-18 credit hour minor (6 courses total). Three required foundational courses provide instruction in leadership theory,interpersonal dimensions of leadership (including communication,  leading in groups, teams and organizations) and scientific research that tests theories of leadership. For more information about the minor, please visit the website here

The Leadership Center also offers a wide variety of programs, called I-programs. These are usually on a Saturday and are designed to help students develop the leadership skills necessary for success both as an Illinois student and beyond. If you are interested in a shorter program, you can always attend a workshop! Workshops are usually held at night on the weekends and helps you discover your leadership style.
