What kinds of activities would you suggest a high school student interested in engineering get involved in?

Cindy, Civil and Environmental Engineering
“Science fairs and science olympiad are a great way to learn more about an topic that interests you. But it’s important to explore your other interests as well. You can join cultural clubs, practice the fine arts, take up a hobby, or play a sport.”
Micki, Electrical Engineering
“Definitely don’t give up more “artsy” activities to be involved in more STEM-related ones; a balance is critical. I highly encourage joining competitive groups such as math team and Science Olympiad, because you learn and relearn critical concepts that you haven’t touched upon in years, but will return in college! Also, the team aspect is a very engaging and beneficial experience, and very well models STEM problem-solving and critical thinking needed in college and beyond!”
Kaiya, Chemical Engineering
“Anything that fits your interests; stage crew taught me great multitasking skills that I use everyday in engineering.”
