Engineering Open House (EOH)

EOH is an annual event run by students in the College of Engineering at UIUC to showcase of the incredible engineering talent at this university. Every year, EOH features over 200 interactive demonstrations, four design competitions, entertainment, guest speakers, and campus tours.  This year,  SWE hosted an interactive escape room, silvering mirrors, and lava lamps. Our exhibit won third place for Most Interactive!

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED)

On February 17, 2018, we welcomed a group of high school students to our campus and introduced them to different disciplines within engineering by inviting them to participate in a variety of engineering activities and a design challenge. We focused on the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) movement, which highlights the creative side of engineering.

Engineering Round Robin

On October 7th, 2017, a large group of 6th–12th grade girls got to meet our SWE Outreach volunteers (who are engineers themselves) and participate in a variety of problem-solving activities. The girls had the opportunity to get their questions about college answered by a panel of current students and to see a functioning Rube Goldberg machine!

Mommy, Me, and SWE

SWE Outreach enjoyed hosting a group of 4th–6th grade girls and their moms on Saturday, November 4th 2017 for a day of Moana-themed science activities including slime-making and bridge building!
