Girls’ Adventures in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science (GAMES) is an annual week-long camp, designed to give academically talented high school girls (rising 9th-12th graders) an opportunity to explore exciting engineering and scientific fields through demonstrations, classroom presentations, hands-on activities, and contacts with women in these technical fields.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Illinois Robotics was founded in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. This not-for-profit public organization designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while gaining self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.
NanoCEMMS offers several nanotechnology education programs for middle and high school students, underrepresented students, college students, and teachers.
Girl Scouts offers a variety of STEM badges, workshops, and opportunities for girls of all ages. SWE Illinois also hosts three Girl Scout workshops each year where scouts can earn STEM badges and meet current engineering students.
For students already admitted to the University of Illinois
The Women in Math, Science, and Engineering (WIMSE) dormitory provides a supportive environment for undergraduate female students in a mathematics, science, or engineering curriculum. WIMSE provides an active academic and social network designed to ease student transition to the university and facilitate student academic success.
Women in Engineering (WIE) is a college-wide program dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for female students in the College.
