UNDERLYING EDUCATIONAL THEORIES

active learning, collaborative problem solving, peer learning, problem-based learning

PEDAGOGICAL BENEFITS

  • Think Again! activities can be done quickly and used between other learning activities.
  • Think Again! lets students to engage collectively in polls, reducing the potential for stage fright in front of the class.
  • Think Again! encourages students to fix misunderstandings that may have arisen in class without feeling discouraged.
  • Think Again! is an active learning approach that also helps instructors to identify and evaluate gaps in students’ understanding.

STRATEGIES FOR IMPLEMENTATION

  1. Instructors present a common misconception or misunderstanding and then take a brief poll that asks students to agree or disagree. With a given time limit, students answer the poll individually.
  2. Instructors then provide the correct answer and give students the opportunity to explore and explain why.
