Congratulations to Cherie’ L. Weible for being the recipient of the 2013 Kansas State Historical Society’s Alfred M. Landon Historical Research Award! The Alfred M. Landon History Research Grant is presented annually to graduate students for research in the collections of the Kansas Historical Society. Weible, Head of Central Access Services and Associate Professor at the University Library, is in her fourth year as a PhD Student at GSLIS and has an interest in literacy and libraries on the American frontier.

Christopher Prom Appointed Publications Editor of the Society of American Archivists
In November, the Society of American Archivists (SAA) announced the appointment of Chris Prom as the Publications Editor of the SAA. Chris will begin his three-year term on February 28, 2013. As the Publications Editor, Chris will be responsible for setting a vision and providing philosophical direction for the program, directing the work of the eight-member Publications Board, acquiring and reviewing manuscripts, and maintaining a transparent review process. Fedora Commons Open Source Integration for Digital Curation with DX
In July 2012, Dell made the University Library a Certified Technology Partner and awarded the Library a grant of $120,000 to be used in the next three years to develop software for the Library’s digital repository program. The grant was publicly announced in September. I contacted Tom Habing, Manager of the Library Software Development Group and Principal Investigator of the grant, to find out more about this project.
