Genevieve Zilmer is an undergraduate student at UIUC studying Integrative Biology with a minor in Natural Resource Conservation. She’s interested in looking at the intersections of research, policy, and human values and behaviors in order to solve the major environmental issues of today. She’s excited to work on the Denali National Park Project to look at these connections and explore inclusive conservation, social values of National Parks, and pro-environmental behaviors. While with the van Riper lab she will be mentored by PhD student Evan Salcido. Elsewhere on campus Genevieve is involved in Students for Environmental Concerns, the Resilience Sustainability Working Advisory Team, and School of Integrative Biology Peer Advising and Mentoring.
About the Research
Our goal is to establish a process for advancing “inclusive conservation” that reflects the multiple viewpoints on the future of protected area management in the Denali region. Click here for more details about our project.
