Examining Homophobic Name-calling and Mental Health Indicators with Adolescent Youth

Abstract:
Victims of homophobic name-calling are at risk for increased mental health problems. Furthermore, student music ensemble membership presents opportunities for homophobic name-calling victimization. To this end, the purpose of this session is to explore the hypothesized effects of middle school music class participation the relationship between homophobic name-calling and indicators of mental health.
