3D Printed shape-memory alloy gripper mechanism

I am pleased to announce that earlier this week, CDI Lab PhD students Anurag Bhattacharyya and Ziliang Kang successfully defended their PhD dissertations. Anurag’s dissertation presented a novel framework for hierarchical design of self-actuating shape-memory polymer mechanisms, while Ziliang’s dissertation introduced an original design methodology for computational synthesis of shape-memory alloy mechanisms for soft robotics applications. This Fall, Anurag will be heading to UC San Diego where he will be a postdoctoral research scientist in the lab of Prof. Alicia Kim.  Beginning in August 2021, Troy will be a postdoctoral research scientist in the Prof. Giovanni Traverso’s lab at MIT in Cambridge, MA.

Congratulations Anurag and Troy!
