Learn about Fulbright Scholarship Opportunities, April 9 – May 3

Interested in research, teaching, or graduate study abroad? The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards 2,000 scholarships annually for students to conduct research, teach English, or pursue graduate study in 140 countries. For over ten years, the University of Illinois has been a top producers of Fulbright U.S. student awards. Apply to be a 2025 awardee! 

Eligibility
Current juniors, seniors, and recent alumni in all academic disciplines, who are U.S. citizens, are eligible to apply

The Fulbright Scholarship funds 1 year of research, teaching, or graduate study. The selection committee rates candidates based on their academic or professional qualifications, language skills, evidence of maturity, motivation, adaptability to a different cultural environment, knowledge of the host country, and the impression a candidate will make abroad as a citizen representing the U.S. 

Deadline
The priority deadline for undergraduates and recent alumni is June 24, 2024.
The required campus deadline is August 26, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).

Cozad New Venture Challenge

Present at the 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) invites you to present at the 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS).

The URS is the signature event of Undergraduate Research Week (April 21 – 27), which brings together students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, as well as the public, to learn more about undergraduate research and its potential to change the world. Throughout the day, students will present their oral and poster presentations, creative performances, and interactive exhibits to members of the campus and local community.

  • When: Thursday, April 25, 2024
  • Where: Illini Union (A, B, C, South Lounge and the 2nd Floor)
  • Application Deadline: Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:59 pm

Why Present?

  • Opportunity to network with other student researchers and faculty, staff, and graduate student judges.
  • Develop communication skills and receive valuable presentation feedback from judges.
  • Invite your friends and family to showcase your work and accomplishments.
  • Presenters are eligible for OUR awards for outstanding presentations.
  • Satisfies a requirement for the Distinguished Undergraduate Researcher Certificate.

Who is Eligible?

  • All undergraduate students currently (or previously) involved with research are eligible to present. This includes course-based research projects.
  • Students can present in-progress and completed research projects or creative works.
  • Students can present individually or in groups. Groups only need to submit one application to present.
  • Students can give multiple presentations throughout the day.

Applications are currently being accepted. The deadline for applying to the URS is Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:59 pm and no late submissions will be accepted. Please note, your presentation is not expected to be complete by the application deadline. On the application, you will only be asked to provide a tentative title that can be revised until March 19 and an abstract which will be used internally by OUR to create and organize thematic sessions. Your abstract will not be published or viewed by anyone other than OUR.
